Back during lockdown I saw so many people on tiktok creating their own small business and thriving, I even brought off a few!
There was this one day in particular where I came across a brand called XXL Scrunchie in Canada and fell in love with their scrunchies and I was literally watching their YouTube videos everyday and got so inspired to create my own small business of Scrunchies in the UK! I was so nervous for years and after being on and off being certain that this is what I want to do I finally got the courage to set up my Instagram and Facebook page and then went onto TikTok where I upload mini videos of and about my scrunchies! But before any of this I learnt how to use a sewing machine and I was already making scrunchies and I had just over 50 and all I kept doing was making them thinking I will sell these one day. Now five years and over 100 scrunchies later. I have an online shop and I’ve done my first ever craft market. All of this is way out my comfort zone, me five years ago didn’t think I would be where I am today stepping outside of my comfort zone trying to film little short videos promoting a small business I’ve started, trying to gain confidence and going into a new comfort zone. I am someone who has 100 things on her mind 99% of the time and when I’m making scrunchies or I’m crocheting or doing anything craft related my mind distracts from the world and it’s a hobby I love to do and to be able to sell stuff that I do as a hobby makes me feel good and my mind feels a lot better than it would if I didn’t put my time into this. I do thank the people who support my business and buy scrunchies. I do have many more scrunchies in my mind that I can sell same as crocheted crafts because it’s all I’ve been doing since the start of the year.
So here’s to the rest of 2025 and I hope you are all here this time next year still loving and buying my handmade crafts!
